LinkedIn · Link preview
LinkedIn Post Inspector alternative
SocialImageKit is an independent tool — not affiliated with LinkedIn. LinkedIn’s official Post Inspectorstill owns cache refresh. What we add: an instant, no-login preview of the tags crawlers see so you fix the page before you scrape.

How it works
How LinkedIn builds a link preview
When someone posts a URL, LinkedIn’s crawler fetches the public HTML and reads Open Graph tags. The usual fields are og:title,og:description, og:image andog:url. Twitter Card tags are not a substitute for LinkedIn.
For the image, aim for about 1200×627 (1.91:1). LinkedIn’s help docs treat that size as the working floor for a full-width card. Absolute minimums around200×200 exist, but small files often become thumbnails. Keep the file under 5 MB (closer to 200–800 KB is kinder to mobile).

Stuck preview
Why your LinkedIn preview is not updating
- Cache. LinkedIn can keep a scraped card for roughly a week. Editing a post alone does not force a new fetch. After the live page is correct, usePost Inspectorto scrape again.
- Wrong image size. Far-from-landscape files get cropped or shrunk. Rebuild near 1200×627.
- Image not public. Hotlink protection, signed URLs, or a 403 to bots looks like “no image” in LinkedIn.
- robots.txt. If LinkedInBot is disallowed, Inspector cannot read the page you think you fixed.
- Relative og:image. Paths like
/og.jpgfail; use a full https URL. - Redirects. Long redirect chains or a different final URL than the one you inspected can leave the feed on an old scrape.
No LinkedIn login
Preview your LinkedIn link now
Paste the public URL into the Link Preview Checker. Confirm title, description and image, then scrape with official Post Inspector if the feed is still stale.
Before you post
Checklist before you post
- Canonical https URL opens without login.
- og:title, og:description, og:image and og:url are in View Source (not only after JS).
- og:image is an absolute https URL returning 200 anonymously.
- Image is about 1200×627 (1.91:1), under 5 MB (aim under 1 MB).
- Important text sits inside a safe margin — LinkedIn crops edges.
- If you changed artwork, use a new image path so caches cannot reuse the old file.
- Run this site’s Link Preview Checker, then scrape with official Post Inspector.
Troubleshoot
Common problems and fixes
Scroll sideways on small screens. Start with cache and absolute URLs — they cause most “not updating” reports.
| Common problem | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Old image still shows | LinkedIn cached an earlier scrape (often for days). | Fix live tags, prefer a new image URL, then scrape with official Post Inspector. |
| Tiny thumbnail instead of large card | Image is under ~401px wide or far from 1.91:1. | Use ~1200×627 (or 1200×630) and set og:image:width / height. |
| No image at all | Missing og:image, relative path, or file blocked to anonymous GET. | Absolute https URL that returns 200 in a private window. |
| Wrong title or description | Tags only injected by client JS, or wrong canonical URL inspected. | Put tags in the first HTML response; inspect the canonical https URL. |
| Inspector cannot fetch the page | robots.txt blocks LinkedInBot, auth wall, or redirect loop. | Allow LinkedInBot, remove login gates on the public URL, avoid chains. |
