Build the gradient

Step 3
Check the preview
Toggle light, dark or transparent backgrounds so you can judge contrast before you ship the style.
Step 4
Copy CSS / Tailwind or download PNG
Paste the CSS into your stylesheet, use the Tailwind-friendly snippet in markup, or export a 2× transparent PNG for design tools and OG artwork.
Compatibility
Browser support
Gradient text via background-clip: text is widely supported in current Chromium, Firefox and Safari builds when you include the-webkit- prefix shown in the CSS output. Very old browsers may show solid text instead. The PNG export uses canvas and works in the same modern browsers.
Accessibility
Contrast and readability
Gradients can drop below WCAG contrast on parts of a letter, especially thin weights on busy page backgrounds. Prefer gradient text for short decorative headlines, keep paragraphs in solid high-contrast ink, and preview on both light and dark surfaces before publishing.
Share cards
Use gradient text in your OG image
Social crawlers do not run your CSS. If you want gradient lettering on Facebook, LinkedIn or WhatsApp cards, export the PNG from this tool (or recreate the look) and place it in a 1200×630 canvas with theOG Image Generator, then point og:image at the hosted file.
Frequently asked questions
Answers about this free gradient text generator: CSS clipping, PNG export, fonts and contrast.
Is this gradient text generator free?
Yes. It runs in your browser with no account. Nothing you type is uploaded to our servers for this tool.
How does CSS gradient text work?
You paint a gradient as a background image, then clip that background to the glyphs with background-clip: text (and the -webkit- prefix) while setting the text fill to transparent.
Can I download the gradient text as a PNG?
Yes. The download button exports a transparent PNG at 2× resolution so the edges stay sharp in design tools and share images.
Which fonts can I use?
Only fonts already bundled on SocialImageKit (Inter, Source Serif, Fraunces, IBM Plex Mono, Nunito, Oswald, Source Sans 3). This page does not load new font families.
Is gradient text accessible?
Decorative gradient headlines can reduce contrast. Keep body copy in solid, high-contrast colors, and check that the gradient remains readable on light and dark surfaces.
